Group Singing Classes:

Taught by Bethany Neese (2 - 5 students per class)

Prorated at $22.00 per class

Tiny Singers (K - 2nd grade)

Monday 3:10 - 4:00
Wednesday 3:10 - 4:00

Tiny Singers is a small group (2 - 5 children) of kindergarden through second graders. The first 15 minutes of class is spent warming up with fun, easy songs from our folk history (London Bridge, Old MacDonald, Lavender Blue, Open-Shut Them, If You're Happy and You Know It, etc...) The second part of class is spent singing the 5 musical selections that I choose once a semester. This is the bulk of the class. These songs are chosen mainly from the Musical Theatre genre and we spend the entire semester working on them. We develop simple hand motions for the songs. We practice learning the words, memorizing and adding the movements until it all comes together for the end of the semester recital where the children perform all 5 songs together. The children are learning what their voice sounds and feels like. They are learning to memorize and match pitch. Ultimately they are learning self confidence by being able to get in front of a large group of people for the recital. The last part of class is spent on the floor learning simple music notation through flash cards and small rhythm instruments.

Little Singers (3rd - 6th grade)

Monday 4:10 - 5:00 & 5:10 - 6:00
Wednesday 4:10 - 5:00

Little Singers is a small group (2 - 5 children) of 3rd through 6th graders. The first 15 minutes of class is spent warming up with excersizes that introduce them to typical vocal warm-ups (which they will recognize in private voice lessons or choirs.) The second part of class is spent learning 3-5 musical theatre group songs that will be performed together in the recital at the end of the semester. Each student in the class will also choose a solo to learn and perfect during the class in preparation for the recital as well. The children sing together and in front of each other, learning what their voice sounds and feels like. They build self confidence through the group singing as well as the solo singing. The children are required to sing the group selections in the recital and encouraged to perform their solos as well, however, for the solos, I leave the final decision up to them. The last half of class is spent learning simple rhythm and musical notation, through the use of flash cards and the white eraser staff board.

Little Fingers

Young beginners age 5-6 / two kids per class ( 40 min) Lessons introduce directional pre-reading , elementary music theory and basic piano playing technique. Students will enjoy engaging songs, games and creative discovery of the keybord. The first 10 minutes are used to introduce a new material : key names, basic rhythms , ear and eye- training. For the next 20 minutes each child gets individual attention while the other working on" assigment" and vice versa insuring a full understanding of the material. The final 10 min will be spent on review and interactive games.
